With Captain America: Civil War set for release next April, we can expect to see our first look at Tom Holland as the new Peter Parker/Spider-Man pretty soon (though he wasn’t seen in the D23 footage). Holland will be the third actor to take on The Friendly Neighbouhood Wall-Crawler in ten years following Tobey Maguire (Spider-Man) and Andrew Garfield (The Amazing Spider-Man), and when asked if he had taken inspiration from the actors that came before him, he said that “it’s impossible not to”.
“They were so great, and such real and rich performances, there were obviously factors that I love and will try to recreate,” he told HeyUGuys at the premiere of Jumpers For Goalposts. “But I think the most important thing of the moment is to make a film that’s obviously of the same character, but try to make a different, and new and exciting movie.”
