Hugh Jackman hanging up his claws?

June 4, 2013 by admin

Say it isn’t so! After nabbing the role from Dougray Scott (picking Mission: Impossible II must have seemed the right idea at the time), and so far starring as Wolverine six times. could Hugh Jackman be thinking about life without chicken breast and Adamantium?

“I wasn’t even sure after the first [stand-alone] film if I would do another,” Jackman told EW. “I won’t say never, because I’m still loving it. But there would have to be a pretty compelling reason.”

Also, like many fans, it seems Jackman was left disappointed with X-Men Origins: Wolverine. “I had something to prove, and we could have done better,” he said. “Somehow the first Wolverine movie ended up looking like the fourth X-Men — just with different characters. I left unsure if we’d achieved our goal, which was to make sure people understood my character.”

Here’s hoping though that his next outing, in Japan tussling with samurais and ninjas, will hit the spot though. “This movie will really get to his core,” he continued. “So… fingers crossed that we’ve done it this time. I’m pretty confident we have.”

The Wolverine is due to hit screens on July 26th, while Jackman will also return to the role a seventh time next summer in Bryan Singer’s X-Men: Days of Future Past. Here’s the synopsis for the upcoming solo sequel, followed by the latest trailer:

“Based on the celebrated comic book arc, this epic action-adventure takes Wolverine, the most iconic character of the X-Men universe, to modern day Japan. Out of his depth in an unknown world he faces his ultimate nemesis in a life-or-death battle that will leave him forever changed. Vulnerable for the first time and pushed to his physical and emotional limits, he confronts not only lethal samurai steel but also his inner struggle against his own immortality, emerging more powerful than we have ever seen him before.“
