Anthony Mackie says Captain America: Civil War “is gonna be so much better” than Avengers: Age of Ultron

January 30, 2015 by Gary Collinson

It seems there’s not a week goes by without Anthony Mackie taking the opportunity to big up the Phase Three-launching Marvel threequel Captain America: Civil War, and the Captain America: The Winter Soldier star has been at it again this week, telling WZYZ-TV Detroit that the 2016 release “is gonna be so much better than” Joss Whedon’s Avengers: Age of Ultron.

“The way I look at it, Captain America [The Winter Soldier] was a spin-off of Avengers, but it was so much better than Avengers. With the new Avengers [Age of Ultron] coming out, the trailer that came out, it’s gonna be 10 times better than Avengers. So, [Captain America: Civil War] is gonna be so much better than Avengers 2. It can’t be Avengers 2.5, it’s like Avengers 3.8. It’s so far past where Avengers is gonna be this summer. Just having read [Civil War script], and seen the specs of what they’re gonna do, it’s unlike anything you’ve ever seen.”

Meanwhile, Mackie is still hoping that Falcon will get a late call-up to the Avengers roster during reshoots on Age of Ultron: “[I hope I’m involved]. They’re still shooting. They’re still adding pieces so I’m definitely waiting for the call, Marvel, to be added in any way, shape, or form that I can.”

Captain America: Civil War is set for release on April 29th 2016 in the UK and May 6th in the States, with a cast that includes Chris Evans (Captain America), Robert Downey Jr. (Iron Man), Anthony Mackie (Falcon), Scarlett Johansson (Black Widow), Samuel L. Jackson (Nick Fury), Sebastian Stan (The Winter Soldier), Frank Grillo (Crossbones) and Daniel Bruhl (Rush).
