Universal bringing Jim Starlin’s Dreadstar to the small screen

February 19, 2015 by Gary Collinson

It looks like we may be able to add another series to the ever-increasing list of comic book TV shows, with The Wrap reporting that Universal Cable Productions and Benderspink are teaming up for an adaptation of Jim Starlin’s Dreadstar.

Published by Marvel’s Epic Comics Imprint and launching in 1982, Dreadstar follows the exploits of Vanth Dreadstar – the sole survivor of our galaxy – and his crew as they look to end an ancient war between The Church of the Instrumentality and the Monarchy.

“I consider Dreadstar to be an extension of my family, so it took me a while to feel comfortable letting anyone else take care of this project,” states Starlin, who will write and executive produce. “It has taken some time, but I know I’ve put my trust in the right team and I’m excited to collaborate with Universal Cable Productions and Benderspink to bring Dreadstar’s unique brand of chaos to television.”
