Chris Farley as Shrek in leaked story reel

August 6, 2015 by Anghus Houvouras

Shrek is an animated classic. An animated classic and a pop culture staple. By now we’re all familiar with the voices of Mike Myers as Shrek and Eddie Murphy as Donkey. Would the film have had the same magic if the original choice for the lead role, Chris Farley, had played the character?

That’s a question that can only be speculated about before today. Now, thanks to a leaked video, we have a sample of Farley’s take on the character along with a storyboard sequence.

Shrek is one of those movies with a ridiculously complicated production history. The film endured a number of crises prior to it’s successful release, none more tragic than the loss of Farley who died of a drug overdose in December of 1997.

What do you think of Farley’s take on Shrek?
