Simon Pegg “didn’t love” Star Trek Beyond trailer

December 19, 2015 by Gary Collinson

It’s fair to say that the first trailer for Star Trek Beyond wasn’t the biggest of hits with fans of the franchise; the response from our writers in the Flickering Myth Reaction was mixed at best, both Wil Wheaton and George Takei weren’t overly impressed, and it seems that star and co-writer Simon Pegg wasn’t the biggest fan either.

“I didn’t love it, because I know there’s a lot more to the film,” Pegg told HeyUGuys during the premiere of Star Wars: The Force Awakens in London. “It was very action-packed. It was surprising. I kind of find it to be the marketing people sorta saying, ‘Everybody come and see this film, it’s full of action and fun,’ when there’s a lot more to it than that. There’s a lot more story and a lot more character stuff, and a lot more, what I would call ‘Star Trek stuff’. To the Star Trek fans I’d say ‘Hang in there. Be patient.'”
