Could David Fincher save the World War Z sequel?

February 8, 2017 by Samuel Brace

Following the news that Paramount has pulled World War Z 2 from its 2017 schedule, fans of the Brad Pitt led zombie romp were left at a loss. However news has surfaced that director David Fincher could perhaps save the film.

Fincher had been previously rumoured to helm the project and according to The Hollywood Reporter, there is a source that says the Fight Club director is still “very creatively interested in directing the movie”.

Fincher has close ties with Brad Pitt, the star of the initial movie, having worked with him numerous times on films like Seven, Fight Club and The Curious Case of Benjamin Button.

Apparently Fincher was looking to make the film about a man and his family navigating a zombie apocalypse — at a budget much less than that of the original movie.

The source went on to say that “He (Fincher) really would like to do it,” and that “It’s up to Paramount”.

J.A. Bayona, the director of A Monster Calls had originally been tapped to direct the film but left the project in January of last year and is now working on Jurassic World 2.
