Rumour: Details on Finn’s mission in Star Wars: The Last Jedi revealed

February 17, 2017 by Gary Collinson

While we know that Daisy Ridley’s Rey is going to spend much of Star Wars: The Last Jedi training and adventuring with Luke Skywalker, it’s really anyone’s guess as to what roles John Boyega’s Finn and Oscar Isaac’s Poe Dameron will play in Episode VIII this December, but thanks to Making Star Wars we may have some details as to the adventure Finn will find himself on for the Resistance.

Now, when it comes to Star Wars rumours, a lot of sites churn out speculation (and outright fabrication), but Making Star Wars has proven itself to be extremely reliable, so there’s a good chance this information is accurate. There’s nothing majorly spoilery here, but if you don’t want to know anything about The Last Jedi before its release, you should stop reading now.

So, according to the site, Finn will find himself on a top secret mission for the Resistance, where he’ll be accompanied by Kelly Marie Tran’s new character. Finn will be going undercover, dressed as a First Order Officer, and the duo will find themselves on a Super Star Destroyer – believed to be the First Order’s command ship and described as “a gigantic huge wedge, solid, and dark” – where they will likely be planting explosives. The Super Star Destroyer is also said to be orbiting a red planet, which looks like “Mars with snow on it”.

It’s also during this mission that Finn will encounter the Stormtrooper (reportedly played by Tom Hardy) who slaps him on the arse after recognising him from his First Order days.

So, not much to go on, but it’s nice to know that Finn will have plenty to do in The Last Jedi. Now all we need to know is what Poe Dameron is doing…

Star Wars: The Last Jedi is set for release on December 15th 2017 and sees returning cast members Mark Hamill (Luke Skywalker), Carrie Fisher (Leia Organa), Adam Driver (Kylo Ren), Daisy Ridley (Rey), John Boyega (Finn), Oscar Isaac (Poe Dameron), Lupita Nyong’o (Maz Kanata), Domhnall Gleeson (General Hux), Anthony Daniels (C-3PO), Gwendoline Christie (Captain Phasma), Billie Lourd (Lieutenant Connix), Andy Serkis (Supreme Leader Snoke), Peter Mayhew and Joonas Suotamo (Chewbacca), Tim Rose (Admiral Ackbar), Mike Quinn (Nien Nunb), Simon Pegg (Unkar Plutt), and Warwick Davis joined by new additions Jimmy Vee (Pan) as R2-D2, Benicio Del Toro (Guardians of the Galaxy), Laura Dern (Jurassic Park) and Kelly Marie Tran (Ladies Like Us).
