Armie Hammer shuts down Green Lantern casting rumours

April 15, 2017 by Robert Kojder

During recent months, evidence seemed to be mounting that Armie Hammer was secretly in discussions to play Green Lantern in the DC Extended Universe, whether it was from comments on social media, his coy demeanour when asked about the role, or him winding up on the numerous rumoured shortlists that make their way online when a major part is in need of casting.

While speaking to Collider to promote his new film Free Fire, the subject came up again, and Hammer now seems to have shot down the rumors once and for all: “Man, jeez…It was fun for a while and now I’m convinced that everyone’s gonna turn on me so I’m like ‘Oh shit, slowly backing away.’ I have nothing to confirm nor deny. The only talk of me being Green Lantern that I have heard in my life has only come from social media.”

A member of the Green Lantern Corps is rumoured to appear in the hotly-anticipated DC superhero team-up Justice League, so we may get more information on the situation soon. It’s also possible that Hammer is still messing with people for fun, but it seems his casting is growing more unlikely as time passes.
