Pierce Brosnan says Cable casting rumour for Deadpool 2 was “fabricated”

April 5, 2017 by Gary Collinson

Back in January, Ryan Reynolds, Hugh Jackman and Pierce Brosnan shared a few photos to social media, which prompted speculation that the former 007 was being lined up for the role of Cable in 20th Century Fox’s Deadpool 2.

A couple of weeks later, a report from Meet the Movie Press claimed that Brosnan was indeed in talks and an official announcement would be made soon. Well, it turns out that was actually never the case at all, with Brosnan telling Jimmy Kimmel that the rumour was “fabricated”.

“We were sitting, waiting for a plane, the three of us, and the guy said, ‘Quick, let’s get a photograph,’ and I jump in the middle and Mr. Reynolds said, ‘Let’s do Three Wise Monkeys.’ We put it out there and it went viral,” said Brosnan. “It’s not true. Nothing’s come my way yet. I don’t lie. They know where to find me, it’s just fabricated.”

Since the Brosnan Fabrication, several other names have been linked to the role of Nathan Summers, including David Harbour, Michael Shannon (the rumoured front runner) and Brad Pitt, although director David Leitch has since revealed that while he did meet with Pitt, they couldn’t work out the schedule.

Who do you want to see in the role of Cable? Are you disappointed that it (seemingly) won’t be Pierce Brosnan? Let us know in the comments below…
