Lucasfilm unhappy with Han Solo actor, Justice League trailer with Superman, Avengers: Infinity War set photos and more – Daily News Roundup

June 27, 2017 by admin

UNHAPPY HAN

Following the shock news last week that Disney and Lucasfilm had fired Phil Lord and Chris Miller from the director’s chair during the production of the Han Solo spin-off movie, a new article from The Hollywood Reporter shared some more details from the troubled set. Among revealing that an editor has also been fired, THR’s sources say that Lucasfilm were unhappy with Alden Ehrenreich’s performance as Han Solo, to the extent a new acting coach was brought in to work with him. POWER RAN(PG)ERS

Sadly for Power Rangers fans, the 2017 big screen reboot failed to capture an audience domestically and around the world, and it’s now likely the sequel won’t materalise (despite great toy sales). When asked why thing may have not worked out the way the wanted, director Dean Israelite believes the PG-13 rating had something to do with it. “Not only do I think it, but there’s been market studies on it, and the findings have been that if the movie were rated PG- I don’t want to go into the specific numbers- but if the movie had been rated PG, there would have been more traffic,” he added. “I think parents were unsure if they could bring their kids to the movie, which surprised me, because the movie is a tame PG-13.” Read more here.

SUPER BEST FRIENDS

A few days ago Robert Downey Jr. shared a behind-the-scenes photo of himself alongside his Avengers: Infinity War co-stars Benedict Cumberbatch, Mark Ruffalo and Benedict Wong, and now we have another look at the four stars – this time in costume as Tony Stark, Doctor Strange, Bruce Banner and Wong – as they survey destruction on the Atlanta set of the Marvel superhero epic. Check them out here.

BUMBLEBEE DETAILS

Although Transformers: The Last Knight has struggled at the box office, plans are still in place for the Bumblebee spin-off and producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura has shared some details about the film. “The interesting thing about doing a spin-off is it has to have some familiarity with the franchise, and then it has to have its own distinct qualities for it to stand on its own,” said di Bonaventura. “It’s the story of a 17-, 18-year-old girl who, through a series of events, she and Bumblebee find each other, and they make each other whole. Bumblebee’s a very loving character. He’s got a lot of heart, so of course the idyllic life of these two is interrupted by the evil Decepticons. And how are they going to be able to deal with the problem without Optimus and without everybody else?” Read more here.

THE RETURN OF SUPERMAN

We’re expecting a new trailer for Justice League very soon (possibly at SDCC), and we’ve got a new report about what to expect – which includes the return of Superman. Now bear in mind, these are just rumours, but you can read the full breakdown here.

IRON MAN EASTER EGG

Let’s end off this Daily News Roundup with a really nice little story. Remember that little kid in Iron Man 2? Well, Spider-Man himself Tom Holland revealed yesterday that he had a conversation with Kevin Feige about making it cannon that the kid is a young Peter Parker. “I can confirm that as of today,” he said. “I literally had a conversation with Kevin Feige only 20 minutes ago. Maybe I’ve just done a big, old spoiler, but it’s out there now. It’s cool. I like the idea that Peter Parker has been in the universe since the beginning.” Read more here.
