Wonder Woman crosses $400 million milestone at the US box office

August 9, 2017 by Samuel Brace

Wonder Woman has now managed to cross $400 million at the US domestic box office.

Adding another line to its list of achievements, Wonder Woman continues to rise up the ranks having now become the 27th ever movie to clear the impressive milestone of $400 million in the US.

It has also become the third highest grossing Warner Bros. release behind Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight and The Dark Knight Rises.

Wonder Woman is currently the second highest grossing film of 2017 in the US behind Beauty and the Beast, and the fifth highest grossing picture globally behind Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.2 which sits in fourth place.

Wonder Woman has truly wiped the floor with the other entries in the DCEU, sitting in first place domestically ahead of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice which has accumulated $330 million.

BvS is still ahead, however, at the international box office, having earned $873.3 million to Wonder Woman’s $794.2 million.

Before she was Wonder Woman, she was Diana, princess of the Amazons, trained to be an unconquerable warrior. Raised on a sheltered island paradise, when an American pilot crashes on their shores and tells of a massive conflict raging in the outside world, Diana leaves her home, convinced she can stop the threat. Fighting alongside man in a war to end all wars, Diana will discover her full powers…and her true destiny.

Wonder Woman sees Patty Jenkins (Monster) directing a cast that includes Gal Gadot (Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice), Chris Pine (Star Trek), Connie Nielsen (Gladiator), Robin Wright (House of Cards), Danny Huston (X-Men Origins: Wolverine), David Thewlis (The Theory of Everything), Ewen Bremner (Snowpiercer), Said Taghmaoui (American Hustle), Elena Anaya (The Skin I Live In), Lisa Loven Kongsli (Force Majeure), Lucy Davis (Shaun of the Dead) and Ann Wolf.
