Hostiles finally finds distributor, officially entering Oscars race

October 5, 2017 by Samuel Brace

Hostiles has ended its search for a distributor after being snapped up by Entertainment Studios Motion Pictures.

The question of how well the Christian Bale led Hostiles would fair this awards season was up in the air as Scott Cooper’s western had yet to secure itself a distributor.

Playing at multiple festivals, the film received a good deal of praise particularly for Bale’s performance as a grizzled army captain who is forced to escort a Native American back to his home.

While Hostiles and Bale can’t write their Oscars’ speeches quite yet, it can now officially be said that the film has entered the race, with the violent western looking to be a good bet in a number of categories.

Hostiles’ distributor is planning an awards season release this December before expanding to a wide release in January. Byron Allen, chairman, and CEO of Entertainment Studios, is already talking up the picture, saying:

“Hostiles is an incredibly powerful and entertaining film, a masterpiece,” and continuing, “Christian Bale and Rosamund Pike deliver flawless performances in this excellent movie.”
