Krysten Ritter doesn’t think we’re getting a second season of The Defenders

So far, all of Netflix’s Marvel shows have found themselves renewed, save for one – The Defenders – which brought together the heroes of Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist. And, according to Jessica Jones herself, it seems the Marvel team-up miniseries could be one and done.

“Y’know, I had a great time doing The Defenders and honestly, it was such a good experience that I would even do it again,” Ritter told Vulture. “I don’t think we are doing it again. It was never intentioned to do it again, but, you know, if I was given another opportunity, I would. My heart is with my show because of the subject matter and because of the great drama that we get to do and the personal issues that we explore. For me, that is more the type of content that I enjoy as a viewer and as a performer. My heart is in Jessica Jones, but I did have a great time doing The Defenders with the guys. We had a good time. It is what it is.”

While a second season of The Defenders looks to be off the table for the time being, we do still have plenty of Marvel goodness to look forward to on Netflix: Jessica Jones season 2 arrived today, and will be followed by Luke Cage season two and Daredevil season three later this year, along with Iron Fist season two and The Punisher season two in 2019. And of course, future team-ups such as Heroes for Hire is always a possibility too…

Now known throughout the city as a super-powered killer, a new case makes her reluctantly confront who she really is while digging deeper into her past to explore the reasons why.

The second season of Jessica Jones sees the return of Krysten Ritter as the hard-drinking super-powered private eye, along with Rachael Taylor (Trish Walker), Carrie-Anne Moss (Jeri Hogarth), Eka Darville (Malcolm Ducasse), David Tennant (Kilgrave) and new cast members Janet McTeer and J.R. Ramirez.
