Scarlett Johansson discusses the “two-to-three year” gap between Civil War and Avengers: Infinity War

March 16, 2018 by Gary Collinson

With a new trailer set to arrive later today, Scarlett Johansson has been chatting to Entertainment Tonight about next month’s Avengers: Infinity War, filling us in on what the Black Widow and company have been up to during the “two-to-three year” gap between Infinity War and the last time we saw Earth’s Mightiest Heroes in Captain America: Civil War.

“When we last saw these characters in Civil War it’s been probably two or three years that have passed, and our characters have been kind of part of some sort of counter-terrorism unit efforts but we’re flying under the radar, and you know it’s a lot I think when you are on these kinds of missions with no governmental support. You don’t even have the support of just the general public, and you’re sort of running rogue, trying to do what you know is best for the common man but you don’t have someone to guide you or support you. We’re kind of fractured ourselves, and then, of course, the last we saw Hulk he was floating into the stratosphere. Now we are reintroduced to this whole expanded universe. There’s been a lot of change that’s gone on since the original Avengers assembled.”

As Mark Ruffalo explained recently, Bruce Banner “doesn’t understand Civil War – he just doesn’t get it”, so perhaps he’ll be the one to bring the Avengers back together as they prepare for their big showdown with Thanos and his army?

An unprecedented cinematic journey ten years in the making and spanning the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe, Marvel Studios’ “Avengers: Infinity War” brings to the screen the ultimate, deadliest showdown of all time. The Avengers and their Super Hero allies must be willing to sacrifice all in an attempt to defeat the powerful Thanos before his blitz of devastation and ruin puts an end to the universe.

Avengers: Infinity War opens on April 27th 2018 and will feature an all-star cast including Robert Downey Jr. (Iron Man), Chris Evans (Captain America), Mark Ruffalo (Hulk), Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Scarlett Johansson (Black Widow), Jeremy Renner (Hawkeye), Chadwick Boseman (Black Panther), Tom Holland (Spider-Man), Sebastian Stan (Winter Soldier), Anthony Mackie (Falcon), Paul Rudd (Ant-Man), Paul Bettany (Vision), Elizabeth Olsen (Scarlet Witch), Don Cheadle (War Machine), Josh Brolin (Thanos), Benedict Cumberbatch (Doctor Strange), Benedict Wong (Wong), Chris Pratt (Star-Lord), Zoe Saldana (Gamora), Dave Bautista (Drax), Bradley Cooper (Rocket), Sean Gunn (Rocket, Kraglin), Vin Diesel (Groot), Karen Gillan (Nebula), Pom Klementieff (Mantis), Tessa Thompson (Valkyrie), Tom Hiddleston (Loki), Samuel L. Jackson (Nick Fury), Cobie Smulders (Maria Hill), Benicio Del Toro (The Collector), Danai Gurira (Okoye), Winston Duke (M’Baku) and Peter Dinklage and Terry Notary in as-yet-unrevealed roles.
