Avengers: Infinity War directors tell Hawkeye fans that “patience is a virtue”

April 14, 2018 by Gary Collinson

Given that he’s been entirely absent from the marketing and promotional materials, and his name isn’t featured in the credits of the official poster, it would seem that Jeremy Renner’s Hawkeye is only going to make the briefest of appearances in Avengers: Infinity War, if at all.

While we do know he’ll feature in the as-yet-untitled Avengers 4, it’s pretty clear that he isn’t going to have any kind of significant screen time in Infinity War. Nevertheless, directors Anthony and Joe Russo have moved to reassure Hawkeye fans that Clint Barton will have an interesting role to play across the two movies.

“We keep saying, ‘Patience is a virtue.’ We did not forget the twice-nominated Jeremy Renner. We cooked up a story for him that is a little bit of a long play. Not a short play,” Joe told JOE.com, with Anthony adding that “All will be revealed.”

As we’ve seen in set photos, Hawkeye is set to unveil a new costume and look inspired by his Ronin persona from the comic books. Rumours have also been circulating as to what sets him off on this path, but we’ll not spoil them here…

An unprecedented cinematic journey ten years in the making and spanning the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe, Marvel Studios’ “Avengers: Infinity War” brings to the screen the ultimate, deadliest showdown of all time. The Avengers and their Super Hero allies must be willing to sacrifice all in an attempt to defeat the powerful Thanos before his blitz of devastation and ruin puts an end to the universe.

Avengers: Infinity War opens on April 27th 2018 and will feature an all-star cast including Robert Downey Jr. (Iron Man), Chris Evans (Captain America), Mark Ruffalo (Hulk), Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Scarlett Johansson (Black Widow), Jeremy Renner (Hawkeye), Chadwick Boseman (Black Panther), Tom Holland (Spider-Man), Sebastian Stan (Winter Soldier), Anthony Mackie (Falcon), Paul Rudd (Ant-Man), Paul Bettany (Vision), Elizabeth Olsen (Scarlet Witch), Don Cheadle (War Machine), Josh Brolin (Thanos), Benedict Cumberbatch (Doctor Strange), Benedict Wong (Wong), Chris Pratt (Star-Lord), Zoe Saldana (Gamora), Dave Bautista (Drax), Bradley Cooper (Rocket), Sean Gunn (Rocket, Kraglin), Vin Diesel (Groot), Karen Gillan (Nebula), Pom Klementieff (Mantis), Tessa Thompson (Valkyrie), Tom Hiddleston (Loki), Samuel L. Jackson (Nick Fury), Cobie Smulders (Maria Hill), Benicio Del Toro (The Collector), Danai Gurira (Okoye), Winston Duke (M’Baku) and Peter Dinklage and Terry Notary in as-yet-unrevealed roles.
