Eaglemoss celebrates Batman: The Animated Series with new figurine collection

April 1, 2018 by Gary Collinson

More than 25 years after its premiere, Batman: The Animated Series remains one of the finest animated shows to grace the small screen, and for their latest Hero Collector range, the folks at Eaglemoss have turned their attention to the classic show, delivering a series of 1/16 scale figures featuring the iconic heroes and villains of Gotham City!

Included in the first wave of six metallic resign figures are Batman, The Penguin, Harley Quinn, Poison Ivy, The Joker and Robin, with each standing at around 7 inches in height and recreating the classic Bruce Timm designs from the award-winning show.

The figurines themselves look rather splendid, with excellent sculpts of the characters, and very impressive paintwork – an area that often lets down these kind of collections. That definitely isn’t the case here though; the designers at Eaglemoss have managed to perfectly capture the simple, clean art style of the show, and they deserve a pat on the back for their work.

Each figurine comes with a 12-page magazine, which is packed with details about the characters, early design sketches, info on the numerous residents of Gotham City both friend and foe, and the various spinoffs such as The Batman Adventures comic book series. They make for an interesting read, and are a decent accompaniment to the main attraction.

Overall, I’m very happy with what Eaglemoss has served up in this first wave of Batman: The Animated Series figurines, and I’m sure fans of the show and DC Comics in general will be too. There isn’t a weak entry in this first wave – all six make for fantastic display pieces – and with the likes of Mr Freeze and the Scarecrow up next, I’m definitely going to have to make some space on my shelf!

The Batman: The Animated Series collectible figurines are available now via the Eaglemoss website here.
