Patty Jenkins has more than tripled her salary for Wonder Woman 2

May 13, 2018 by Amie Cranswick

After scoring an enormous critical and commercial success last year with Warner Bros. and DC Films’ Wonder Woman, Variety is reporting that Patty Jenkins has scored a major pay increase for the upcoming sequel to the Gal Gadot-headlined superhero blockbuster.

The site reports that Jenkins is set to take home a fee of $9 million for Wonder Woman 2, more than triple that of her salary on the first movie, and a sum that is thought to be the biggest upfront payment for a female filmmaker.

Given that the first film grossed over $820 million and was among the best reviewed superhero movies ever, the pay rise is certainly well deserved and Warner Bros. will no doubt be feeling confident that Jenkins can deliver another solid hit with the sequel.

Wonder Woman 2 is currently gearing up to go into production this summer, with the sequel taking place in the 1980s and featuring Kristen Wiig as the main antagonist Barbara Ann Minerva, a.k.a. Cheetah.

Wonder Woman 2 is set for release on November 1st 2019 and will see Gal Gadot once again leading the cast as Diana Prince alongside Kristen Wiig (Ghostbusters) as Barbara Ann Minerva/Cheetah and Pedro Pascal (Game of Thrones) in an as-yet-unrevealed role. According to rumours, Ewen Bremner (Charlie), Said Taghmaoui (Sameer), Connie Nielsen (Queen Hippolyta), Lisa Loven Kongsli (Menalippe), Doutzen Kroes (Venelia) are all set to return, while Chris Pine may also reprise the role of Steve Trevor.
