Rumoured details on Morbius, the Living Vampire villain and female lead

July 25, 2018 by Gary Collinson

Last month, Sony found its Morbius, the Living Vampire for the studio’s planned Spider-Man spinoff film with the casting of Suicide Squad star Jared Leto, and now we’ve got some rumours regarding the villain and the female lead.

According to That Hashtag Show, Sony and director Daniel Espinosa (Life) are looking to cast a villain who “was once a friend” to Dr. Michael Morbius and are “auditioning males, 30-40 years old for the role with actors Riz Ahmed and Rami Malek held in mind as prototypes.”

The site goes on to speculate that this character is likely to be Emil Nikos, who in the comic books was a biochemist who dedicated his life to seeking a cure for Michael’s rare blood disease, only to become his first victim when their experiment failed and turned Morbius into a living vampire.

Meanwhile, the search is also on for an actress of any ethnicity aged between 25-40 to play the female lead, an “intelligent, cutthroat businesswoman” who is assumed to be Morbius’ lover Martine Bancroft, who stands by Michael after his transformation but tragically ends up a vampire herself.

As yet, there’s no word on a potential release date for Morbius, the Living Vampire, but filming is expected to get underway at some point later this year.
