DC Universe’s Stargirl TV series casts the Injustice Society

December 23, 2018 by Gary Collinson

After assembling the Justice Society of America these past few weeks, DC Universe has now turned its attention to their villainous counterparts the Injustice Society as casting on the live-action Stargirl series continues.

As per Deadline, Joy Osmanski (Santa Clarita Diet), Neil Hopkins (Lost) and Nelson Lee (Sneaky Pete) have been cast as Paula Brooks/Tigress, Lawrence ‘Crusher’ Crock/Sportsmaster and Dragon King respectively. Here’s the official character descriptions:

Tigress – ““Protecting and providing for her family, Paula Brooks hunts the world’s most dangerous game – humans – as the Tigress.”

Sportsmaster – “He sees his criminal pursuits as a game to win — and his competitors as targets to kill. The only thing more important to Crock than ‘the game’ is his family.”

Dragon King – “A deadly and mysterious hooded man…this controversial scientist has been experimenting on himself and his victims since the 1940s.”

“Stargirl follows high school sophomore Courtney Whitmore as she inspires an unlikely group of young heroes to stop the villains of the past. This new drama reimagines Stargirl and the very first superhero team, the Justice Society of America, in an unpredictable series.”

Brec Bassinger (Bella and the Bulldogs) leads the cast of the series as Courtney Whitmore/Stargirl, along with Anjelika Washington (Young Sheldon), Yvette Monreal (Matador) and Christopher James Baker (True Detective) in as-yet-unrevealed roles. Also featuring as the Justice Society of America are Joel McHale (Community) as Starman, Lou Ferrigno Jr.(S.W.A.T.) as Hourman, Brian Stapf (The Walking Dead) as Wildcat, and Henry Thomas (The Haunting of Hill House) as Dr. Mid-Nite.
