M. Night Shyamalan doesn’t plan on making a Glass sequel

December 7, 2018 by Samuel Brace

M. Night Shyamalan reveals that it is unlikely that he will make a sequel to Glass.

Anything that is remotely popular gets a sequel, that’s the law of the land these days but this doesn’t necessarily include the upcoming thriller Glass by director M. Night Shyamalan.

While Glass is already technically a sequel to both Unbreakable and Split, Shyamalan has told Digital Spy that at this moment he has no intention of making a sequel to the film. Explaining his thinking, the director said:

“I don’t want to relive stuff and I don’t want to be an opportunist, that’s not the relationship that I have with the audience, that I aspire to. My aspiration is they know they’re going to get an original thriller every single time. That’s where my taste go, so I’m going to say no right now.”

While this may disappoint many fans once the film is in the wild, perhaps three films in Shyamalan’s superhero movie series is enough. What do you think? Should the director stop with Glass or would you like to see him further explore this world of heroes and villains?

Following the conclusion of Split, Glass finds Dunn pursuing Crumb’s superhuman figure of The Beast in a series of escalating encounters, while the shadowy presence of Price emerges as an orchestrator who holds secrets critical to both men. This riveting culmination of his worldwide blockbusters will be produced by Shyamalan and Jason Blum.

Glass will see the return of Bruce Willis (David Dunn), Samuel L. Jackson (Elijah Price), Spencer Treat Clark (Joseph Dunn) and Charlayne Woodard (Mrs. Price) from Unbreakable and James McAvoy (Kevin Wendell Crumb) and Anya Taylor-Joy (Casey Cooke) from Split, while Sarah Paulson (American Horror Story) also stars. The film is slated to hit cinemas on January 19th 2019.
