Remains of the Day with journalist Caroline Crampton – The Pick of the Flicks Podcast #21

January 30, 2019 by Tom Beasley

The Pick of the Flicks Podcast returns after its winter hiatus with a cracker of an episode, in which journalist and podcaster Caroline Crampton pops in to chat about her favourite film. Her choice is the 1993 Merchant Ivory classic The Remains of the Day, starring Anthony Hopkins and Emma Thompson as staff at a country house during the interwar years. It’s a powerful and sophisticated drama that Caroline was just a little bit obsessed with as a teenager. We talk about the movie’s terrific performances, modern relevance and surprisingly good portrayal of journalism.
