Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw wraps filming

February 19, 2019 by Gary Collinson

Dwayne Johnson has taken to Instagram to announce that filming has wrapped on Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw, the first spinoff from the blockbuster action series, which sees Johnson’s Luke Hobbs sharing centre stage with Jason Statham’s Deckard Shaw.

“Hobbs & Shaw is officially wrapped,” writes The Rock. “Easily the most challenging film I’ve ever produced and starred in, however based on the fans’ insanely hyped “break the internet” reactions to our first trailer — this film is also shaping up to be my most rewarding. A HUGE bald and brotherly MAHALO to the man who trusted me and our chemistry and “pushed all his chips in” to make something bad ass and fun for the fans. My uso @jasonstatham. He’s one legit talented and tough bastard and the pure joy I got from making him laugh so fucking hard during the our takes he couldn’t even talk, I will always remember with evil ? glee.”

While Hobbs & Shaw has wrapped, Johnson isn’t taking any kind of break in his insanely hectic schedule, as he’s already started production on his next film, the sequel to 2017’s hit comedy adventure Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, which commenced principal photography this past weekend.

Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw is being directed by David Leitch (John Wick, Deadpool 2) and will see the return of Dwayne Johnson (Luke Hobbs), Jason Statham (Deckard Shaw) and Helen Mirren (Magdalene Shaw) alongside franchise newcomers Idris Elba (Luther), Vanessa Kirby (Mission: Impossible – Fallout), Eddie Marsan (Ray Donovan), and Eiza Gonzalez (Baby Driver). It is set for release on August 2nd 2019.
