Edgar Wright announces start of filming on Last Night in Soho

May 24, 2019 by Ricky Church

Baby Driver director Edgar Wright announced over his Instagram account that filming has begun on his newest project, Last Night in Soho, also revealing the film’s logo in some behind the scenes photos. Wright’s latest film will star Anya Taylor-Joy (Split),Thomasin Harcourt McKenzie (Leave No Trace) and Matt Smith (Doctor Who).

Plot details are currently scarce with the only bit of information being Last Night in Soho is a psychological horror-thriller that will be influenced by Nicholas Roeg’s Don’t Look Now and Roman Polanski’s Repulsion. Wright co-wrote the script with Krysty Wilson-Cairns (Penny Dreadful) and previously spoke to Empire about the film’s inspiration.

“I realised I had never made a film about central London – specifically Soho, somewhere I’ve spent a huge amount of time in the last 25 years,” Wright said. “With Hot Fuzz and Shaun Of The Dead you make movies about places you’ve lived in. This movie is about the London I’ve existed in.”

Wright is producing the film alongside Nina Park, Tim Bevin and Eric Fellner with Chung-hoon Chung (It) as the film’s Director of Photography. Last Night in Soho will be released internationally by Focus Features and Universal Pictures.
