Pan’s Labyrinth with film critic Alistair Ryder – The Pick of the Flicks Podcast #44

July 17, 2019 by Tom Beasley

On The Pick of the Flicks Podcast, a different guest drops in every week to chat about their favourite film. This week, film critic Alistair Ryder delves deep into the fantasy world of Guillermo del Toro to discuss Pan’s Labyrinth…

On the latest episode of The Pick of the Flicks Podcast, film critic and Dorian Awards voter Alistair Ryder pops by to chat to me about Guillermo del Toro’s Oscar-winning fairytale Pan’s Labyrinth. It’s one of the monster maestro’s most poetic films and we discuss Doug Jones’s memorable creature work, the allegories about imagination and fascism, as well as how close Del Toro came to making The Hobbit.
