It’s Bill Skarsgard open to returning as Pennywise in the future

September 9, 2019 by Liam Waddington

Bill Skarsgard has stated he would be open to returning as Pennywise the Dancing Clown in the It franchise in the future if Warner Bros. intends on making a third movie.

In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly to coincide with the release of It Chpater Two, Skarsgard expressed his interest in returning to the iconic role if the film had the right approach to it:

“It would have to be the right type of approach to it,” Skarsgård explained. “The book ends where the second movie ends, so that is the final chapter of this story. There is this interesting aspect of going back in time before all this happened. There might be a story there that might be worth exploring. Obviously that would be a story that’s not in the book, it would be a freestanding story, but obviously within the same universe. So, there might be something interesting out of it. I think it would be fun.”

Although there is no source material to adapt from Stephen King, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see Warner Bros. greenlight a prequel ‘Chapter Three’ in the future if It Chapter Two makes enough money at the box office – and the film has already made $185 million worldwide in its opening weekend.

Because every 27 years evil revisits the town of Derry, Maine, “It Chapter Two” brings the characters—who’ve long since gone their separate ways—back together as adults, nearly three decades after the events of the first film.

It Chapter Two sees Bill Skarsgard reprising his role as Pennywise the Dancing Clown, while Jessica Chastain (Beverly), James McAvoy (Bill), Bill Hader (Richie), James Ransone (Eddie), Andy Bean (Stanley), Jay Ryan (Ben) and Isaiah Mustafa (Mike) star as the adult versions of The Losers’ Club. The younger versions of The Losers’ Club – Jaeden Martell, Jeremy Ray Taylor, Sophia Lillis, Finn Wolfhard, Wyatt Oleff, Jack Dylan Grazer, and Chosen Jacobs – also reprise their roles from the first movie.
