Shriek will join Carnage in Sony’s Venom 2, Naomie Harris in talks

October 18, 2019 by Gary Collinson

UPDATE: As reported by Variety, Skyfall and Moonlight actress Naomie Harris is in talks with Sony about taking on the role of Marvel villain Shriek in the studio’s upcoming sequel Venom 2. Original story follows…

As Sony and director Andy Serkis continue to prep Venom 2, Deadline is reporting that Woody Harrelson’s Carnage won’t be the only villain going up against Tom Hardy’s Eddie Brock, as the character of Shriek is also set to feature in the sequel.

Shriek was introduced to Marvel’s comic book continuity as part of 1993’s ‘Maximum Carnage’ arc; a drug dealer called Frances Barrison and the lover of Cletus Kasady/Carnage, she transformers into Shriek after a severe trauma results in the emergence of powerful mutant abilities including flight, sound manipulation, and the ability to cause dark and violent emotions in others.

According to the outlet’s report, the casting process for the role of Shriek is underway, but “the net is cast wide toward many kinds of actresses” and the filmmakers are “looking mostly at unknowns right now”.
