Wonder Woman 3’s story is already in place, says director Patty Jenkins

December 11, 2019 by Samuel Brace

Patty Jenkins, the director of Wonder Woman 1984, says that the story for Wonder Woman 3 is already in place.

The first trailer for Wonder Woman 1984 is now with us and fans are starting to get excited to see Gal Gadot grace the screen once more as the beloved hero. But what about the future?

Well, apparently director Patty Jenkins has already been thinking plenty about another sequel, so much so that the story is already planned out! Speaking at CCXP (via THR), the director said:

“We actually already know the whole story to it. It’s just a matter of, will we change our minds, and when [to make it]. I think what we don’t want to do is do it back to back. It’s been great doing these two movies back to back, but I think it’s important to give it a little rest in between. And I like doing other things in between. And Gal has other things to do. I never want to make decisions too far in advance. We have to see if we both feel like making the movie we think we want to make when the moment comes.”

So while there is room for flexibility, it’s nice to know that the director has been thinking ahead and able to plan where the story is going. Hopefully, Wonder Woman 1984 hits home well enough with fans to warrant a third movie.

Wonder Woman 1984 reunites director Patty Jenkins with stars Gal Gadot (Diana Prince), Chris Pine (Steve Trevor), Ewen Bremner (Charlie), Said Taghmaoui (Sameer), Connie Nielsen (Queen Hippolyta), Robin Wright (General Antiope), Lisa Loven Kongsli (Menalippe), Doutzen Kroes (Venelia) and new additions Kristen Wiig (Ghostbusters) as Barbara Ann Minerva/Cheetah, Pedro Pascal (Game of Thrones) as Maxwell Lord, and Natasha Rothwell (Love, Simon), Ravi Patel (Master of None, Grandfathered) and Gabriella Wilde (Doctor Who, Poldark) in as-yet-unrevealed roles. It is set for release on June 5th 2020.
