Edgar Wright confirms Last Night in Soho delay, horror film now releasing in 2021

May 26, 2020 by EJ Moreno

2020 was supposed to mark the return of filmmaker Edgar Wright, after taking a break following 2017’s Baby Driver. Wright has been working on Last Night in Soho, co-written by Krysty Wilson-Cairns, and planned a Setempber release for his new horror movie. Now, Wright has confirmed that the film isn’t complete and announced to fans a new release date.

The Shaun of the Dead filmmaker took to his Twitter account to share a new still, as well as a new opening date:

Haunted by someone else’s past, but we’ll see you in the future… It’s true, #LastNightInSoho is not quite finished yet due to Covid 19. But, I'm excited for you all to experience it, at a big screen near you, on April 23, 2021. @LastNightInSoho @FocusFeatures @universaluk pic.twitter.com/zmPnAZICkb

Little is known about Last Night in Soho, though star Anna Taylor-Joy recently shared a little tease of the film’s tone: “Not to say much about the movie, but when I watch bits of it back in ADR or whatever I am disturbed. It’s very claustrophobic. The colors are so intense. It’s a really well-directed acid trip. I think people will really like it. You definitely will not be bored.”

Focus Features will release Last Night in Soho on April 23rd, 2021. The film will star Anya Taylor-Joy and Thomasin McKenzie as they explore London’s Soho district during the Swinging Sixties.
