New screenshots provide a glimpse at The Lord of the Rings: Gollum

May 6, 2020 by Andrew Newton

Daedalic Entertainment and Middle-earth Enterprises have released a series of screenshots for their upcoming The Lord of the Rings: Gollum, a title that focuses on one of the story’s main antagonist rather than the various heroes that normally feature.  The game is set for release on PC and consoles next year and has been confirmed for an Xbox Series X and Playstation 5 release.

The Lord of the Rings: Gollum will be a story-driven game that focuses on Gollum, or to give him his true name Smeagol, and will treat players into a bit of insight into some of the events that take place prior to Gollum’s appearance in the books.

Fans of the books will find this new story remains true to vision that J.R.R Tolkien had for Middle-Earth, its people and its varied landscape.

“The Lord of the Rings is one of the most epic and renowned stories of all time – it’s an honour for us to have the opportunity to work on our own contribution to this universe,” said Carsten Fichtelmann, CEO and Co-Founder of Daedalic Entertainment. “In Gollum, players will assume the role of one of the most iconic characters in Middle-earth. We tell Gollum’s story from a perspective never seen before, in any storytelling medium, all the while staying true to the legendary books of J.R.R. Tolkien.”
