Godzilla vs. Kong promo art teases a battle of epic proportions

July 21, 2020 by Gary Collinson

We’ve still got the best part of a year before two of cinema’s biggest icons square off in Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures’ long-delayed Godzilla vs. Kong, and this latest piece of promotional artwork from the film’s toy packaging certainly isn’t going to make the wait any easier as the two titans battle ON THE DECK OF AN AIRCRAFT CARRIER!

The MonsterVerse mash-up – a sequel to WB and Legendary’s Godzilla, Kong: Skull Island and Godzilla: King of the Monsters was originally scheduled to open in March of this year, but the studio pushed it back eight months to November 2020 to allow extra time to polish the movie in the wake of the Godzilla sequel’s underwhelming box office. Of course, the pandemic then came along, knocking it back even further to its current May 21st 2021 date.

In a time when monsters walk the Earth, humanity’s fight for its future sets Godzilla and Kong on a collision course that will see the two most powerful forces of nature on the planet collide in a spectacular battle for the ages. As Monarch embarks on a perilous mission into uncharted terrain and unearths clues to the Titans’ origins, a human conspiracy threatens to wipe the creatures, both good and bad, from the face of the earth forever.

Godzilla vs. Kong is directed by Adam Wingard (The Guest, Blair Witch) and sees Millie Bobby Brown (Stranger Things), Kyle Chandler (Bloodline) and Ziyi Zhang (The Cloverfield Paradox) reprising their roles from Godzilla: King of the Monsters, while new additions to the MonsterVerse include Alexander Skarsgard (Big Little Lies), Julian Dennison (Deadpool 2), Brian Tyree Henry (Atlanta), Demian Bichir (The Hateful Eight), Rebecca Hall (Holmes and Watson), Jessica Henwick (Iron Fist), Eiza Gonzalez (Baby Driver), Shun Oguri (Crows Zero), and Lance Reddick (The Wire).
