Dwayne Johnson tops the list of highest-paid actors once again

August 18, 2020 by Gary Collinson

For the second year in a row, Dwayne Johnson has topped Forbes’ list of the highest-paid actors in the world, with The Rock pulling in a reported $87.5 million during the period between June 1st 2019 and June 1st 2020.

The bulk of Johnson’s earnings came from Netflix’s Red Notice, as well as his Under Armour line Project Rock, while his Red Notice co-star Ryan Reynolds came second with $71.5 million, which includes two $20 million plus paydays from Netflix for 6 Underground and Red Notice. Expect Reynolds to top next year’s list given that he’s just sold his gin company  Aviation American Gin in a deal worth up to $610 million.

Here’s the full top ten:

  • Dwayne Johnson – $87.5 million
  • Ryan Reynolds – $71.5 million
  • Mark Wahlberg – $58 million
  • Ben Affleck – $55 million
  • Vin Diesel – $54 million
  • Akshay Kumar – $48.5 million
  • Lin-Manuel Miranda – $45.5 million
  • Will Smith – $44.5 million
  • Adam Sandler – $41 million
  • Jackie Chan – $40 million

Of note is the fact that Netflix paid out $140.5 million to six of the actors in the top ten, over a quarter of the combined $545.5 million haul of the top ten. Adam Sandler received the most from the streamer with $31 million, while Johnson earned the biggest single payday with $23.5 million for Red Notice.
