Robert Pattinson tried to hide his Batman audition from Christopher Nolan

August 10, 2020 by Liam Waddington

With how production for both Christopher Nolan’s Tenet and Matt Reeves’ The Batman lined up, star Robert Pattinson tried to hide his Batman audition from Nolan to get time away from the Tenet set – which didn’t go exactly according to plan.

During an interview with The Irish Times, Pattinson admitted he tried to lie to the former Batman director due to the secretive nature of the DC project, but Nolan immediately figured out his ulterior motive.

“It’s funny because Chris is so secretive about everything to do with his movies,” Pattinson said. “And then I had to be really secretive about Batman stuff. So I had to lie to Chris about having to go for a screen test — I said I had a family emergency. And as soon as I said ‘it’s a family emergency’ he said: ‘You’re doing the Batman audition, aren’t you?'”

Pattinson is set to star in both feature films with Nolan’s latest project currently scheduled to arrive in 70 markets on August 26th, and in select cities in the United States on September 3rd. Meanwhile The Batman, which paused production due to the ongoing global health crisis, is one of several films to begin shooting again soon ahead of its release next year.
