Birds of Prey star Chris Messina would love to have another shot at playing Victor Zsasz

September 17, 2020 by Liam Waddington

After bringing the villainous Victor Zsasz to life on the big screen in this year’s Birds of Prey (And the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn), actor Chris Messina has revealed he would love to have another shot at playing the character in a future DC film but admits there are no plans to do so.

“I loved playing that character and I love that group of people, that was a ball and something very new to me,” Messina said in an interview with ComicBook.com. “I’d love to get another shot at that character, see him in another light. I don’t have any plans to do it, but if they called, I’d go.”

However, despite the character meeting his demise at the end of the film, the expansive nature of the DC Extended Universe could mean Messina’s Zsasz could return in a prequel to the DC movie.

Messina isn’t the only actor who is eager reprise their Birds of Prey role as Jurnee Smollett-Bell, who played Black Canary, revealed she would return again “in a heartbeat” if the opportunity comes along.

Would you like to see Chris Messina reprise the role of Victor Zsasz in a future DC project? Let us know on Facebook or Twitter @flickeringmyth…

Birds of Prey (And the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) is a twisted tale told by Harley herself, as only Harley can tell it. When Gotham’s most nefariously narcissistic villain, Roman Sionis, and his zealous right-hand, Zsasz, put a target on a young girl named Cass, the city is turned upside down looking for her. Harley, Huntress, Black Canary and Renee Montoya’s paths collide, and the unlikely foursome have no choice but to team up to take Roman down.

Birds of Prey (And the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) is directed by Cathy Yan (Dead Pigs) from a script by Christina Hodson (Bumblebee) and sees Margot Robbie reprising her Suicide Squad role as Harley Quinn alongside Mary Elizabeth Winstead (Fargo) as The Huntress, Jurnee Smollett-Bell (Underground) as Black Canary, Rosie Perez (Fearless) as Renee Montoya, Ella Jay Basco (Grey’s Anatomy) as Cassandra Cain, Ewan McGregor (Christopher Robin) as Black Mask, Chris Messina (Sharp Objects) as Victor Zsasz, Ali Wong (Black Box), Robert Catrini (Jack Reacher: Never Go Back), Steven Williams (The Chi), Dana Lee (Dr. Ken), Francois Chau (The Expanse) and Matthew Willig (The Ballad of Buster Scruggs).
