Jason Momoa hits out at Warner Bros. in support of Justice League co-star Ray Fisher

September 15, 2020 by Amie Cranswick

Last week, Jason Momoa became the first member of the Justice League to stand up support of their co-star Ray Fisher in the Cyborg actor’s dispute with Warner Bros. over Joss Whedon’s mistreatment of the cast and crew on Justice League, and now the Aquaman star has upped the ante with a post on Instagram that hits out at the studio.

“THIS SHIT HAS TO STOP AND NEEDS TO BE LOOKED AT,” Momoa wrote. “RAY FISHER AND EVERYONE ELSE WHO EXPERIENCED WHAT HAPPEN UNDER THE WATCH OF WARNER BROS. NEEDS PROPER INVESTIGATION I just think it’s fucked up that people released a fake Frosty announcement without my permission to try to distract from Ray Fisher speaking up about the shitty way we were treated on Justice League reshoots. Serious stuff went down. It needs to be investigated and people need to be held accountable. #IStandWithRayFisher.”

The ‘fake Frosty’ announcement that Momoa refers to is presumably the casting news from July where it was reported that he’ll be lending his voice to the titular character in an animated Frosty the Snowman movie, which is being produced by Jon Berg – one of the Justice League producers who has been accused by Fisher of “enabling” Whedon’s on set actions.

With Momoa – star of the hugely successful Aquaman franchise, which of course includes the upcoming sequel – now fighting Fisher’s corner, it certainly doesn’t look like this is going to be swept under the rug and the pressure has now been seriously ramped up on Warner Bros. to address the situation.

In Justice League, fueled by his restored faith in humanity and inspired by Superman’s selfless act, Bruce Wayne enlists the help of his newfound ally, Diana Prince, to face an even greater enemy. Together, Batman and Wonder Woman work quickly to find and recruit a team of metahumans to stand against this newly awakened threat. But despite the formation of this unprecedented league of heroes—Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg and The Flash—it may already be too late to save the planet from an assault of catastrophic proportions.

Justice League is directed by Zack Snyder and features Henry Cavill as Superman, Ben Affleck as Batman, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, Ray Fisher as Cyborg, Jason Momoa as Aquaman, Ezra Miller as The Flash, Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Jeremy Irons as Alfred Pennyworth, Diane Lane as Martha Kent, Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor, Connie Nielsen as Queen Hippolyta and Robin Wright as General Antiope, J.K. Simmons as Commissioner Gordon, Amber Heard as Mera, Ciaran Hinds as Steppenwolf and Ray Porter as Darkseid.
