Runescape now available on Steam

October 15, 2020 by Andrew Newton

Jagex has announced that their iconic MMORPG Runescape is now available on Steam.  The game’s arrival on the platform follows a huge demand from the gaming community that saw the game arrive in the Top 40 of Steam’s Global Wishlists rankings.  The Steam version comes with a set of Steam achievements, badges, emoticons and trading cards as well as launch exclusive content.

The Steam version of Runescape will come with three tiers of membership (1 Month, 3 Month and 12 Month) which offer discounted membership and unique cosmetics such as ‘Steam’ Punk Forge Goblin outfit, Forge Goblin Warhammer and Mechanical Frog pet.

Players will also be able to enjoy cross-platform play and are able to link their existing account to Steam and carry on playing with an existing character.  Plus there is an expanded world featuring more characters, skills, storylines and quests.

New players joining the game through Steam will be able to join in the fun in an in-game launch party being held at Taverley Docks, one of the first locations newbies will encounter.

“I’m so excited that RuneScape is now available on Steam, bringing one of the world’s largest MMORPGs, to one of the world’s ultimate gaming destinations. It connects us to a huge community of PC gamers. Together, we will welcome them to millions in our RuneScape community and show them what we have to offer as a living game. It has been an absolute pleasure to work in partnership with Steam and to create fun, unique content for Steam’s worldwide community. This is just the beginning of bringing RuneScape to a wider audience”. – Ryan Ward, RuneScape Executive Producer.

“We’re delighted to welcome one of the world’s largest MMORPG’s, RuneScape, to Steam. We are excited to share RuneScape to a new, large global audience on Steam. Together we will connect PC gamers across the globe, and some will even get to explore the magical world of Gielinor for the very first time! You can download RuneScape for free on Steam today.” – Nathaniel Blue, Valve.
