Benedict Cumberbatch stars in first trailer for Cold War spy thriller The Courier

Lionsgate has released a poster and trailer for the upcoming Cold War spy thriller The Courier. Directed by Dominic Cooke, the film stars Benedict Cumberbatch as Greville Wynne, a British businessman who was recruited by MI6 to act as a courier to transport information crucial to defuse the Cuban Missile Crisis; take a look here…

THE COURIER is a true-life spy thriller, the story of an unassuming British businessman Greville Wynne (Benedict Cumberbatch) recruited into one of the greatest international conflicts in history. At the behest of the UK’s MI6 and a CIA operative (Rachel Brosnahan), he forms a covert, dangerous partnership with Soviet officer Oleg Penkovsky (Merab Ninidze) in an effort to provide crucial intelligence needed to prevent a nuclear confrontation and defuse the Cuban Missile Crisis.

The Courier is set for release on March 19th and features a cast that includes Benedict Cumberbatch, Merab Ninidze, Rachel Brosnahan, and Jessie Buckley.
