Dwayne Johnson announces Disney+ Premier Access release for Jungle Cruise

May 15, 2021 by Amie Cranswick

Dwayne Johnson, star and producer of Disney’s Jungle Cruise, has taken to Instagram to announce that the film is set to become the latest hybrid release from the Mouse House with a simultaneous day and date release in cinemas and on Disney+ with Premier Access.

Jungle Cruise joins a growing list of Premier Access titles, where for $30 Disney+ subscribers can enjoy big budget blockbusters from the comfort of their own home. Both Mulan and Raya and the Last Dragon were released via Premier Access, with Black Widow and Cruella also scheduled for simultaneous theatrical and premium streaming releases.

Here’s The Rock breaking the news via Instagram…

Inspired by the famous Disneyland theme park ride, Disney’s “Jungle Cruise” is an adventure-filled, rollicking thrill-ride down the Amazon with wisecracking skipper Frank Wolff and intrepid researcher Dr. Lily Houghton. Lily travels from London, England to the Amazon jungle and enlists Frank’s questionable services to guide her downriver on La Quila—his ramshackle-but-charming boat. Lily is determined to uncover an ancient tree with unparalleled healing abilities—possessing the power to change the future of medicine. Thrust on this epic quest together, the unlikely duo encounters innumerable dangers and supernatural forces, all lurking in the deceptive beauty of the lush rainforest. But as the secrets of the lost tree unfold, the stakes reach even higher for Lily and Frank and their fate—and mankind’s—hangs in the balance.

Jungle Cruise sees Dwayne Johnson and Emily Blunt leading a cast that includes Jack Whitehall, Edgar Ramirez, Jesse Plemons, Paul Giamatti, Quim Gutierrez, Veronica Falcon, Dani Rovira and Andy Nyman.
