Frontier Foundry unveils FAR: Changing Tides

June 13, 2021 by Andrew Newton

Frontier Foundry and indie developer Okomotive have announced they will be releasing FAR: Changing Tides, the sequel to the multi award-winning debut title, FAR: Lone Sails, on PC and consoles in late 2021.  This new title will expand on the inhospitable world created by Okomotive but this time taking players to the ocean.  A new announcement trailer can be seen below…

FAR: Changing Tides swaps sand dunes for rolling sea waves as players find an abandoned ship which they will take across the vast ocean towards the horizon in a desperate bid for freedom.

Players will enjoy the same captivating art style and relaxing side scrolling gameplay as FAR: Lone Sails, as well as listening to a calming, yet haunting soundtrack composed by Joel Schoch.

Okomotive Lead Designer and Co-Founder, Don Schmocker, said, “The reception to FAR: Lone Sails was humbling, to know that people felt the same passion as we do about that world inspired us to continue to build on it with Changing Tides. We knew we wanted to tell a different, but complimentary tale, one which would be familiar to fans but fresh and exciting.”

Frontier’s Head of Publishing, Zac Antonaci, said, “Signing Okomotive to Foundry was a wonderful moment for the team here as there is a huge amount of love for FAR: Lone Sails in the studio. What Don and the rest of the developers have created with Changing Tides is a fantastic continuation of their brand and we’re delighted to be involved in bringing this to fans, leveraging Frontier’s legacy as a developer and publisher.”

FAR: Changing Tides will launch towards the end of this year on Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S,  PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store.
