Liev Schreiber shares behind-the-scenes reunion photo from the Ray Donovan film

June 30, 2021 by Matt Rodgers

Now more than ever the cancellation of one of your favourite shows doesn’t necessarily mean you won’t get to see those threads tied up on another streaming service, channel, or in the case of Showtime’s critically acclaimed Ray Donovan, the form of a farewell film.

Currently in front of the cameras in New York, its star Liev Schreiber has shared a behind-the-scenes photo featuring Kerris Dorsey, Dash Mihok, Pooch Hall and Eddie Marsan, with the accompanying caption “I will miss this particular gaggle of actors very very much.”

Picking up where Season 7 left off, the film will depict Ray’s origin story with his father Mickey (Jon Voight) and how that works in tandem with their present day relationship as the professional fixer attempts to hunt him down.

Created by Ann Biderman, Ray Donovan was cancelled in February 2020, but shortly after that the feature length send-off was announced. Series showrunner David Hollander is directing from a script he wrote along with Schreiber.

Are you looking forward to the return of Ray Donovan? What other shows cancelled before their time would you like to see given one-final-hurrah? Let us know by using our social channels @FlickeringMyth…

Season 7 of Ray Donovan finds Ray (Liev Schreiber) working to be the man his family needs him to be. While he makes progress with Dr. Amiot (Alan Alda), there are dangers from the past that require the Ray Donovan of old. Between NYC mayor Ed Feratti (Zach Grenier), an unrelenting NYPD officer hunting for the truth and clients old and new, Ray struggles to find the balance between fixing for clients and fixing himself. And when Feratti’s corruption brings a piece of Mickey’s past (Jon Voight) back to New York, Ray is forced to seek answers to long-buried questions. Meanwhile, Bunchy (Dash Mihok), hoping for a fresh start, bunks in Ray’s apartment and works stocking shelves at a pharmacy. Terry (Eddie Marsan) is offered a new, unconventional healing opportunity. Daryll (Pooch Hall) struggles to figure out where he fits into the Donovan clan. Bridget (Kerris Dorsey) and Smitty (Graham Rogers) face the realities of married life.

The Ray Donovan film is set for release in 2022.
