Trailer for thriller My Son featuring a fully improvised James McAvoy performance

September 3, 2021 by Amie Cranswick

Peacock has released a poster and trailer for director Christian Carion’s mystery thriller My Son. Based on the 2017 French film of the same name, it features James McAvoy in a fully improvised performance as a father in a desperate search for answers after he receives a phone call from his ex-wife alerting him to the disappearance of their 7-year-old son. Watch the trailer below…

In MY SON, when a man’s (James McAvoy) only son goes missing, he travels to the town where his ex-wife (Claire Foy) lives in search of answers. To play a man whose life is clouded by mystery, McAvoy was not given a script or dialogue – as was the case in the French film; the character was aware of basic aspects of his story, and improvised and reacted to each moment as it unfolds.

My Son is available to stream on Peacock from September 15th.
