Mission: Impossible 7 and 8 delayed once again to 2023 and 2024

January 22, 2022 by Ricky Church

The real impossible mission Tom Cruise faces is the completion of production on Mission: Impossible 7 and Mission: Impossible 8 as Paramount and Skydance have once again delayed the release dates of both films amid the ongoing pandemic.

It has been a long road for the back-to-back sequels as they were originally slated for a July 2021 and November 2022 release, but with the ongoing pandemic and several production shutdowns following positive COVID cases among the crew and filming restrictions, the sequels have been pushed back several times already. Paramount and Skydance announced the new release dates as July 14, 2023 for Mission: Impossible 7 and June 28, 2024 for Mission: Impossible 8.

“After thoughtful consideration, Paramount Pictures and Skydance have decided to postpone the release dates for Mission: Impossible 7 & 8 in response to delays due to the ongoing pandemic. The new release dates will be July 14, 2023, and June 28, 2024, respectively. We look forward to providing moviegoers with an unparalleled theatrical experience,” Paramount and Skydance said.

Despite the lengthy shutdowns and numerous delays, it has not stopped Cruise from filming and producing Mission: Impossible, even if it has led to an infamous audio clip of him screaming at crew members who were not following COVID protocols. Nor has it stopped Cruise from performing his usual death-defying stunts the franchise is known for which includes a motorbike stunt, a train explosion and hanging upside down on a plane.

Mission: Impossible 7 is directed by Christopher McQuarrie and features returning stars Tom Cruise, Rebecca Ferguson, Vanessa Kirby, Simon Pegg, Ving Rhames, and Henry Czerny, along with new additions Esai Morales (Titans), Hayley Atwell (Avengers: Endgame), Pom Klementieff (Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2), Shea Whigham (Boardwalk Empire), Rob Delaney (Deadpool 2), Mark Gatiss (Sherlock), Indira Varma (Game of Thrones), Charles Parnell (The Last Ship), and Cary Elwes (The Princess Bride).
