Kevin Feige calls Moon Knight “brutal” and says Marvel isn’t holding back with the series

February 13, 2022 by EJ Moreno

Since premiering the first trailer last month, Moon Knight has been on the tip of Marvel fans’ lips. From the unique take on the character by Oscar Isaac to the teased brutality of the series, it’s likely to be another smash hit for Marvel and Disney+, and no-one is more excited about seeing the new Marvel hero kick-ass than Kevin Feige himself.

The head of Marvel Studios recently opened up about what we can expect from the character as we advance and expect it to be unlike any other MCU hero. Speaking to Empire, Feige teased that the Moon Knight series will be “loud and brutal,” which will likely delight hardcore fans.

Feige says, “It’s been fun to work with Disney+ and see the boundaries shifting on what we’re able to do. There are moments [in the series] when Moon Knight is wailing on another character, and it is loud and brutal, and the knee-jerk reaction is, ‘We’re gonna pull back on this, right?’ No. We’re not pulling back. There’s a tonal shift. This is a different thing. This is Moon Knight.”

During the Empire Magazine spread, Oscar Isaac also offered some insight into the role. He seems to know the character might not be an easy sell at first but thinks he’ll find a place in the MCU.

“It is risky,” admits Isaac. “He’s an obscure hero, and the things we’re dealing with are very different. But because it’s a limited series, rather than a movie, the pressure isn’t there to make sure the opening weekend is massive. We’re able to take more risks, to bring that experimental quality on a huge scale.”
