The Orville season 3 delayed to June, first four minutes revealed

February 5, 2022 by Ricky Church

Fans of Seth Macfarlane’s sci-fi comedy series The Orville have waited a long time for the third season and now they are going to have to wait just a little longer. Series creator Seth MacFarlane announced on Twitter The Orville: New Horizons has been pushed back from its March 2022 premiere to June 2nd, 2022.

The Orville: New Horizons has faced many delays due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, being affected by production shutdowns at various stages. The second season aired in 2019 so it has been a long wait for fans as production has stalled. This delay, however, had more to do with scheduling and making sure there was some summer programming than anything related to the pandemic. To ease the wait for the new premiere date MacFarlane also released the opening four minutes of The Orville‘s third season premiere and the new main title sequence.

The Orville first premiered on Fox and ran for two seasons before being picked up for a third by Hulu. MacFarlane writes and executive produces the series. He stars alongside Adrianne Palicki, Penny Johnson Jerald, Scott Grimes, Peter Macon, J. Lee, Mark Jackson, Chad L. Coleman, Jessica Szohr and Anne Winters.

Set 400 years in the future, the series finds the crew of the U.S.S. Orville continuing their mission of exploration, as they navigate both the mysteries of the universe and the complexities of their own interpersonal relationships.
