Elite Dangerous: Odyssey update 11 adds Fleet Carrier interiors

March 17, 2022 by Andrew Newton

Update 11 is now available for Elite Dangerous: Odyssey and allows players to explore on foot the interior of the Drake Class Carrier for the very first time.  There has also been a new Protect mission type added to the game, providing an additional first-person combat challenge for players to complete.

The new update allows players to use these gigantic Fleet Carriers as hubs to enjoy a bit of socialising as the vessel drifts in the vast emptiness of space.  Players will be able to enjoy breathtaking first-person views of space while inside these mobile bases.  The new Carrier interiors offer a variety of different facilities that Commanders could expect to find in Starports or Outpost Concourses and some services can even be added on a modular basis, such as Pioneer Supplies, Vista Genomics and the Shipyard.  One facility that will be particularly useful to ship commanders will be the Bar, replete with a Bartender, this facility acts as a fully player-driven trading post for items found while on foot and allows the player to manage prices, demands and influence the game’s economy from anywhere in the galaxy.  It also provides new methods of making money and an easier means of obtaining hard to find items.

The new Protect missions can be received from mission givers and mission boards and will involve Commanders having to defend a specific object at a certain locations.  Once the location is cleared of enemies and the objective secured players can then collect a reward.

Update 11 is available for Elite Dangerous: Odyssey for PC via Steam, Epic Games Store or the Frontier Store now.
