Sony & Marvel’s Kraven the Hunter adds Christopher Abbott in villain role

March 10, 2022 by Liam Waddington

Per Deadline, Catch-22 star Christopher Abbott is set to join Sony Pictures and Marvel’s upcoming Kraven the Hunter film, which stars Aaron Taylor-Johnson in the title role.

Although Abbott’s role in the film is still unconfirmed as of writing this, the outlet is reporting that the actor is likely to play the film’s main villain, The Foreigner. The Foreigner, who holds no superhuman abilities but is instead known for his incredible martial arts skills that allow him to sneak attack enemies when they least expect it, has played a major part in the Spider-Man comics over the years.

Abbott becomes the latest addition to the cast that includes Aaron Taylor-Johnson as Kraven the Hunter, Ariana DeBose as Calypso,  Fred Hechinger as Chameleon, Russell Crowe in a still undisclosed role, and Alessandro Nivola – who is also set to play an undisclosed villain.

Kraven the Hunter is being directed by J.C. Chandor (Triple Frontier) from a script by Art Marcum (Iron Man), Richard Wenk (Jack Reacher: Never Go Back) and Matt Holloway (Uncharted). Avi Arad and Matt Tolmach will produce the film.

Kraven the Hunter is currently set for release on January 13th, 2023.
