Final Fantasy VII Rebirth announced for Winter 2023

June 17, 2022 by Ricky Church

It has been three years since Playstation and Square Enix released the highly anticipated Final Fantasy VII Remake and now they have announced when fans can expect the continuation of the remake. Final Fantasy VII Rebirth will be the second instalment of what is to be a trilogy of the Final Fantasy VII remake. Watch the announcement trailer below…

The Final Fantasy VII remake has been an ambitious project for Square Enix several years in the making. Creative director Tetsuya Nomura, director Naoki Hamaguchi and producer Yoshinori Kitase made the announcement on the game’s Twitter and also teased further titles in the project, which includes the newly revealed remaster Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII: Reunion, and that development on the third and final title of the trilogy is already underway.

“The development of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth has been progressing rapidly since we adopted a new development structure,” said Nomura. “A title of this scale in which everything is interconnected even before production began is truly rare. In fact, some development has already begun on the third title. I myself have started on the development and am working towards the completion of the series.”

This year marks a milestone for Final Fantasy VII as it celebrates its 25th anniversary. The original game is one of the most well-received games of all time and changed the face of RPGs. It spawned several spin-off titles as well as the animated sequel feature Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children.

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth will be released on Playstation 5 in Winter 2023.
