Disney+ to release Marvel Studios’ Echo in binge format

May 17, 2023 by EJ Moreno

The Hawkeye spin-off Echo is breaking new ground for the MCU on Disney+, becoming the first series from the brand to debut its entire series simultaneously.

The move was announced by Kevin Feige, which shocked many fans and could lead to the upcoming series making a bigger splash than initially intended.

Feige announced at the Disney Upfronts, “In Hawkeye, fans were first introduced to Maya Lopez, a character played by Alaqua Cox. She will return to get her revenge in Echo, a limited drama from an incredible team of indigenous writers, directors, and cast members. And in a first for us, all episodes will drop on November 29.”

Marvel Studios’ other Disney+ series implored a week-to-week release for their shows, which makes the release of Echo uncharted waters for the brand. Disney+ is no stranger to this release strategy, though, as they’ve dropped plenty of series all at once outside of the MCU.

No reason for this new release model was not announced. Still, many pundits and scoopers have questioned the series’ quality, so Disney/Marvel Studios’ could be looking to avoid another blunder. Others feel a series like this is simply Feige testing the waters and seeing if this could help other Marvel shows that would’ve struggled on a week-to-week model.

Along with Alaqua Cox, Charlie Cox, and Vincent D’Onofrio, Echo will see Zahn McClarnon reprising his Hawkeye role as Maya’s father, William Lopez, while the rest of the cast includes Chaske Spencer, Tantoo Cardinal, Devery Jacobs, Cody Lightning, and Graham Greene.

Echo is set to stream on Disney+ this November 29th.
