Nine Perfect Strangers gets a second season with Nicole Kidman back alongside new cast

June 22, 2023 by Ricky Church

Two years after airing on Hulu, Nine Perfect Strangers is coming back for a second season with Nicole Kidman returning alongside a new cast of strangers in a new location. According to Deadline, the new season will see Liv Ullmann (Face to Face), Murray Bartlett (The Last of Us), Dolly de Leon (Triangle of Sadness), Maisie Richardson-Sellers (DC’s Legends of Tomorrow) and Aras Aydin (Cherry Season).

The second season will see Kidman’s Masha Dmitrichhenko running a new wellness resort in the Swiss Alps, bringing together another group of nine strangers for a retreat. The series is based on Liane Moriarty’s book of the same name and was developed for Hulu by David E. Kelly with him, Kidman and Bruna Papandrea executive producing. The first season was written by Kelly, John Henry Butterworth and Samantha Strauss and co-showrun by Kelley and Butterworth.

The synopsis for season two reads:

Nine stressed city dwellers try to get on a path to a better way of living with a 10-day stay at a boutique wellness resort run by the resort’s director Masha (Nicole Kidman), a woman on a mission to reinvigorate their tired minds and bodies. However, these nine “perfect” strangers have no idea what is about to hit them.

When it premiered in 2021, Nine Perfect Strangers quickly became Hulu’s most popular series. The first season starred Kidman, Melissa McCarthy, Michael Shannon, Luke Evans, Bobby Cannavale, Regina Hall, Samara Weaving, Melvin Gregg, Asher Keddie, Grace Van Patten, Tiffany Boone and Manny Jacinto.
