300 prequel series coming from Zack Snyder

May 31, 2024 by EJ Moreno

Zack Snyder is bouncing back after the Rebel Moon saga on Netflix and relying on an old faithful as Variety reports that Snyder is set to helm a 300 prequel series at Warner Bros. Television.

The outlet reports that the filmmaker is still in talks to executive produce the series as well as directing. Deborah Snyder, who executive produced 300, would return as an executive producer under her and Zack’s Stone Quarry banner.

Little is known about the project currently, but Snyder has long talked about developing more within this universe. In December 2023, Snyder said he had reobtained rights to do his 300-related series, which would feature a gay love story and is rumored to be called Blood and Ashes. There’s no confirmation that that’s the exact project or that Snyder will mix new ideas with his previous 300 plans.

300 was a big hit for director Zack Snyder. The 2006 film brought $450 million at the global box office against a reported budget of $65 million. It was based on the graphic novel of the same name by Frank Miller and Lynn Varley. A sequel, 300: Rise of an Empire, was released in 2014, but Snyder did not direct it.

At the time of writing, there’s no writer set for the project and we await word on the network or streaming service to air the 300 prequel series. In the meantime, let us know your thoughts on the project on our social channels @FlickeringMyth…
